Philippa is a middle-aged woman who sheltered in the convent during the cathar wars. Everybody knows she has medical skills but she doesn’t like to talk about it publicly. She’s rather mysterious and interesting woman. She’s probably been through terrible things so people rather don’t even ask her about her past.
Rufus comes from Catalonia just like Estefania and together they are on the trade route from Toulouse to Quillan to Santiago de Compostela. Their business was having hard times during the war but that’s been more than ten years ago. Nowadays, the trade is going well and even the trade routs are quite safe. Rufus and Estefania also act as messengers on their travels delivering letters, writings, packages or even money. They intend to stay in Quillan for a while, for the local lords’ wedding shall likely bring many potential customers and business opportunities.
Young lord de Quillan who is about to get married. It’s a political marriage but Beatrice is quite pretty and being married isn’t some kind of illness. So, why not? He realises that getting a one-night-girl anytime later won’t be a big deal for him. Jaufré, after all, is a big inspiration to him in that matter.
Nazair is the warden of Quillan, directly under Eleanors’ commands. He takes care of the castle supplies, accounting and reparations that are heavily required after the recent fire. Quillan is doing quite well as far as finance is concerned but definitely could do better. Well, a clever accountant always knows how to make things out.
The heir of the neighboring manor…well, manor…rather a homestead forgotten within the mountains. She’s come to the wedding as a guest, or does she have other plans?
Mathilde is a lively and merry girl, daughter of Cecilia, the innkeeper. She enjoys good company in the tavern and in case of some good-looking guests, she appreciates their company even outside of the tavern. She might climb the ladder even higher than many people think. She loves music and dance and is a bit careless, but that’s normal at this age, isn’t it?
She’s a young nun but doesn’t see her future in the convent. She comes from a respectable townsman family, but she was forced to marry a man she didn’t love so she chose to flee. Life in the convent is definitely not her dream but she hasn’t found a way to change her fate.
The abbess of the local convent, she’s a bossy and unyielding woman. She’s a sister of the former lord of the manor, Raymond, and sister-in-law with lady Eleanor. They don’t get on too well. One does not simply become an abbess, it’s a result of great effort. Maria doesn’t particularly abound with kindness and everyone’s a bit afraid of her.
