Mother of Roger and the widowed lady of the Quillan manor. Like many other local people she’s a catholic but not zealous in particular, rather lukewarm and by chance on the right side of the barricade. Eleanor is the pragmatic head of the family, interested in religion only as far as politics demand. She tolerates the Dominicans in her manor but isn’t particularly keen about that.
